Research how user experience design applies to your future job role by doing job searches, desk reviews, and reflections.
In my jobs searches, I settled on this listing for a potential dream role.

Each job requires a combination of technical skill, consumer interfacing skills, and leadership skills. Some jobs more than others in each category.

For secondary research, we did some searching online with UX trends related to our given industry and position. Here are my individual findings:
User experience is obviously very important for web programming and design. You want users to visit your website or web application, but you also will want them to be able to intuitively use them and enjoy the experience at the same time so that they will want to continue to use the product. Some common, relatively more recent trends are that of personalization when it comes to the user experience. For example, dark mode or themes. Also, the usage of personalized algorithms to adaptively customize the user experience.
Balancing the user experience with simplicity, uniqueness, and ease of use are another important aspect of the user experience when it comes to web programming and design. Minimalism is another common trend, but you will need to balance a minimalist design with a design that remains fully functional and convenient to use. On the other hand, when making a more complex user experience, even if it is a very good experience, it will need to be balanced with quick loading times and the speed and efficiency of the product.
Articles/Sources:
User experience design seems to be an integral part of the web design process. The user experience can make or break a web product. If the user experience is too simple or not enjoyable, it may cause users to stop using your product. If the user experience is over complicated or it takes too much time, it could also lead to users not wanting to use your product. So a balance will need to be found for designing the preferred user experience.
